The Shore Conference of High Schools was founded in February 1936 of Group Two Public Schools and plans were laid for member schools to compete for titles in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Roy W. H. Maurer, Athletic Director at Freehold High School, the motivating force behind the organization, was elected unanimously as President.

 

Today, 67 years later, the conference is made up of 47 private, parochial, and public schools with championships in 27 sports.
