The Shore Conference of High Schools

The Shore Conference of High Schools was founded in February 1936 of Group Two Public Schools and plans were laid for member schools to compete for titles in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Roy W. H. Maurer, Athletic Director at Freehold High School, the motivating force behind the organization, was elected unanimously as President.

Today, 88 years later, the conference is made up of 47 private, parochial, and public schools with championships in 25 sports, covering Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Conferences

Leadership Conference: held after each sports season with team captions and leaders who attend a daylong event to learn about leadership from speakers, teachers and coaches. Held three times a year reaching over 300 student leaders.

Girls in Sports Conference: held each February is a one day conference for girls in leadership rolls on their teams. The conference attracts over 150 girls, successful speakers in business who are from one of the 47 Shore Conference schools.
